Endless Shift is a survival mode that appears throughout the Dash series. The goal is to last as long as possible while serving a never-ending wave of customers.
History[]
Endless Shift was made available alongside Flo's Career in the very first Diner Dash. Since then it has continued to appear in many of the main and spin-off Dash titles. This mode would be present until Diner Dash 5: BOOM!. Dash titles from this point forward would no longer receive this mode.
Gameplay[]
When choosing Endless Shift for any Dash game, the player will be taken to the level map. They will be prompted to choose a difficulty setting when picking a stage to play, which range from Easy, Medium, and Hard. The player is then thrown into the fray, which will gradually become more hectic as time goes on. Customers will gradually lose patience at a faster rate. When the player reaches a certain point, the game will attempt to pressure the player by setting every customer to their limit. There are goal benchmarks that can be reached during the shift. The player will be allowed to select one of three upgrades whenever they have reached a benchmark. These items are randomized and are a vital part of lasting through the shift.
Difficulty[]
The difficulty settings usually remain the same throughout the series, though they differ gameplay-wise. Mostly though the difficulty leads to these factors:
- Easy - This can be considered the "normal mode", since customers start off with their respective stats. Five lives are given to the player.
- Medium - Customers' stats are altered with slightly less patience and quicker ordering/eating speed. Four lives are given to the player.
- Hard - Customers have much lower patience than normal, but they will order and eat quicker to compensate. The player is given only three lives.
Appearances[]
Diner Dash[]
For this series, harder difficulties usually leave the player with fewer tables.
- Diner Dash
- Diner Dash 2: Restaurant Rescue
- Diner Dash 3: Flo on the Go
- Diner Dash 4: Hometown Hero (including expansions)
Cooking Dash[]
Similar to Diner Dash, though the player will always start off with three seats and basic essentials like a single drink machine, meat grinder, etc. After a certain point, the game may spawn a massive amount of customers in the line. Beware noisy customers (Cellphone Addict, Director); they'll make noise more frequently the farther you make it into the shift!
